GREECE AND AREAS: 1860s/modern: Accumulation of mint and used stamps and covers, stockcards and glassines jam packed with loads of material that may very well prove to be a treasure hunter's dream. Large Hermes section includes a Volos 40L clear and distinct double control error, great cds but repaired on the left, another consecutive 40L with light double control figures, a meshed paper 40L with a dark purple shade among many others that include a few pairs, etc. Different printings, shades, papers, and some control errors noted. Small Hermes showing is strong, unchecked, spot checks also revealed a variety of printings, shades, papers and cancels. Olympics include an 1896, 10dr high value in two copies, one completely sound, the other with a scissor cut as it was used on a parcel form. Other Olympics include a nice 50L on 1dr with an unusual cancel, a 1906 3dr olive yellow, etc. From there on, some proofs and imperf pairs of the Flying Hermes including an unused no gum 5L blue horizontal pair, Epanastasis better values, imperf sheet selvage singles of the 3 & 5dr Engraved as well as a used imperf pair of the 2dr Litho, all sound, etc. Area stamps include Ikaria complete overprint set on paper, Mytilene, Italian & French Levant Offices, Castellorizo, British Ionian Islands, and too much more to remember. About 100 covers or so from pre-adhesive and Large Hermes Heads with many Levant Offices, etc. A lovely, a bit messy accumulation, condition ranges from faulty to very fine as expected, forgeries should be expected in a lot like this
FORGERIES and Bogus Issue accumulation of Greece proper, strong Samos with Map type forgeries up to and including the high value of the General Administration 25dr. Castles; also, Epirus with Chimarra reprints and forgeries both off and on cover; Crete with many British including several of the 1898, 20pa violet (even a multiple on cover) as well as desirable Russian PO values; Mytilene and a variety of Foreign Offices in the Levant, stamps or on cover, etc. A wonderful showing that includes complete forgeries, genuine stamps with forged overprints and/or cancels, mostly separated but never fully knowing what's coming up next. Condition ranges from faulty to very fine, some of these are very well done and dangerous, excellent for study.

1899/1914, Virtually complete collection starting with the Principality Coat of Arms (5 sets in pairs), three Allegory stamps (10pa no gum, small perf faults, 20pa thinned, 1pi, sound, very fine), four 3rd Coat of Arms stamps with a used 1gr. Provisional Map Issue numerous stamps including multiples; noted Hermes imperf blocks of four, sheet selvage and corner singles. Among the Ellas overprinted, a 1dr with double perfs. Furthermore, a complete used Castles set, 2 mint and 6 used 10drs, 6 used 25drs, and a very unusual mint 10dr with part of the signature on the gum by an official. General Administration Overprint Hermes and Castles include a mint 10dr (backstamped Schmitt) and a backstamped 25dr. Mint and used, overall quality is very fine
1903/12, Postal Stationery Selection of eight unused items, mostly from the Principality era, including 3 envelopes with blue Coat of Arms (one canceled-to-order with Turkish cds) two with some creases, one fine; 1903 postal wrappers, one of the 5pa blue and the other the scarce 1gr rose, both very fine; and three 1912 illustrated postal cards, one canceled-to-order, one heavily creased, the other very fine.

1893/1915, small collection including Mi.-no. 15-19, 32-36, etc., also some foreign post offices, entires and some forgeries
1914, General Administration of Samos Overprinted Hermes, four different, all with the Administration overprint in red instead of black. Used on fragment, the 5L with light staining, backstamped twice. Nice group
1913/1914, group of 70 covers and fragments from all issues to a variety of destinations, noting among them a Map Issue cover canceled with the rare Municipality of KOKKARI seal and two covers with a 10dr and a 25dr Castles respectively. Mostly philatelic, several with the complete sets affixed, overall very clean.
1900, First Cretan State Issue, group of nine different Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. trial color proofs on regular paper, seven of which have the SPECIMEN perforation; the 50L green and the 1dr blue do not. Unusual large margins of the 1dr blue, therefore possibly a trimmed die proof. Fresh, unused no gum, very fine

1900/13, Cretan State Issues, a treasure hunter's dream accumulation of hundreds mint and used, as well as covers. Completely unpicked, housed in glassines, better and key set values mostly separated and haphazardly placed in dealer's stock cards; noted several Provisional red and black overprinted 5drs; two complete 1905 sets and numerous mint and used top 3 values of the same set; a couple of 1908 sets complete with duplicate copies of the key 1dr, 3dr and 5drs; well over a dozen 1909, 5drs Surcharge on Rose mint and used; 1909, Gothic 3 & 5drs all over, multiple copies including 3 blocks of four of the key 1910 large Ellas 1dr and many 5dr values, too much to even know what's exactly there. Condition of stamps is mostly high quality, ideal for someone wanting to form a collection. The cover selection is primarily philatelic, some with overprint varieties, one with the 1909, 5dr on rose sticks out, again clean and overall Fine to Very Fine
1905, Second Cretan State Issue, group of eleven different Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. trial color plate proofs (two different of the 5L, 20L and of the 5dr) on regular paper. All with SPECIMEN perforation. Fresh, unused no gum, very fine.
1900/12, Collection of over 40 pieces of postal stationery cards including such interesting usages like "NEAPOLIS" and "LIMIN SITIAS" to Paris, or Berlin, a "CHANIA" to Manchester, an "AG. NIKOLAOS" to Constantinople and numerous others. There are some soiled items, a couple heavily creased, but most are clean with some minor wear and tear.
1900/12, Complete Postal Stationery Card Issues. Lot of 24 unused (some with duplicates), most with pencil number, includes both types of the overprint for the 1908/09 issue. A couple with toning, most are clean and very fine.
1907/10, Group of ten registered postal stationery cards sent to various German cities and Vienna. Interested uprated items with various stamp combinations. Very clean and useful
1905, Therison Rebellion Issues, accumulation of mint, used and covers. Hundreds, genuine and forgeries, unpicked. Better include 1905 Handstamp Issue in strips of five with some wrinkles or creases, a strip of three 1dr with the middle stamp missing the red control; 1905 lithos in mint marginal blocks of ten, imperf pairs and singles of the same issue, a couple of imperf proofs with the center inverted. In the cover section, there is a cover to Theriso franked with two 5L litho tied by the scarce "MALAXA" cds; also, three unaddressed covers with the scarce "AG. EIRINI" cds on handstamp values, etc.

1900/12: Collection of 33 registered items (the two front only), with R-labels (from 1908 for La Canée & Candia) and R-markings mainly from the 3 largest Post Offices, as well as from the smaller ones of Neapolis, Agios Nikolaos, Limin Sitias, Viannos, Anogeia, Vamos. The Neapolis cover bears a handwritten AR too. Very interesting accumulation

1911/1949, Group of over 200 covers and postal stationery card, starting with a group of about 100 Cretan State covers, with a variety of frankings on properly posted covers including some very rare usages; over 45 Greek Administration Overprints and Campaign stamps and stationery, some properly used, some philatelic; included are a registered franked with a Greece in Turkey 5dr with black overprint, two registered with 10dr red overprint, and another with a 25dr red horizontal overprint among many other frankings. Interesting origin and destination usages, as the post-1915 period does as well. Overall a very nice group
