1858, FOUR-PENCE green with clear to large margins, used with central target on lettersheet to Bordeaux, showing on reverse clear "PACKET LETTER MAURITIUS MR 27 1852", transit and arrival marks; the stamp faint tiny pin-hole, otherwise fine; March 27, 1852 is the earliest recorded usage of this stamp; a rare letter Provenance: A.J. 1 sh. yellow-green tied to pink envelope from "NELSON NO 23 1871" to Avignon in France and redirected to England with several transit and arrival marks; the envelope with small tear fixed with tape, the stamp affected by some light creasing; still a fine and interesting cover, ex Sammlung "Frankfurt"
