Free download: Digital images of plate 1 of the "Schwarzer Einser" (Bavaria)
For collectors interested in plating and researching the "Schwarzer Einser" of Bavaria, a digitised set (resolution 1,200 dpi) of all quarters A-D with 45 fields each from the well-known plate 1 with "damaged foot of '1' " is now available for the first time. The quality of the images is excellent. They guarantee an optimal identification of even the smallest plate faults and field features that have not yet found their way into philatelic literature and enable the position of a stamp in the printed sheet to be determined.
The digital images of the four different 45 sheet quarters are also of great importance with regard to further identifications of stamps of the much rarer printing plate 1X with "damaged left foot of the '1' ". Stamps with plate defects that cannot be identified on the 180 positions of the known plate 1 can be assigned to the rare plate 1X in reverse.
